Crayon Drawings

Tonight I was getting Hannah ready for bed and she started asking me about her mole on her ankle.  She asked me where it came from and why she has it?  I told her that it was just something that Heavenly Father gave to her, and it was a beauty mark.  Her next question made me crack up.  She said, "So mom, was he just doing some crayon drawings or something?"What a thinker.  How does she come up with these things?

Hogle Zoo

Friday we went to the Hogle Zoo on a field trip with my class.  Chad, Vicki and Hannah met us down there and we had a great time.  Hannah loved all the animals, and Chad loved sharing with her his vast knowledge of all the animals that he loves.

Visit with Coombs

The last couple of weeks have been a lot of fun. On Tuesday of Spring Break, Grammy, Papa, Kelly and Andrew came to visit us from California. After a week of visiting, Papa, Kelly and Andrew left to go home and Grammy stayed for another couple of weeks. We have had nothing but fun the entire time. We have gone out to dinner (too much), gone skating, had a campfire up in the canyon for Family Night, visited Thanksgiving Point, and just had fun visiting and letting Grammy spoil Hannah.
Hannah loves Uncle Andrew.  She didn't want anything to do with any of us when he was around.  It was fun to watch them together.   He was so patient with her and even played princess barbie's and poly-pockets with her.

A little visit with Papa.  Hannah loves her papa, and all the fun stories he tells her!

Hannah at Classic Skating.  Her face says it all.  She was so excited to skate and the better she got at it, the more daring she got.  It was fun to watch.

Mom, Andrew and Hannah skating on the "blue".  For the longest time Hannah would only skate on the carpet.  After a while she decided that she wanted to go on the "blue"

We really wore ourselves out at the skating rink!

We were surprised to see snow up in the canyon when we went for our Family Home Evening, since it was like 80 degrees that day.  I guess you never get used to Utah weather.  We decided that it wasn't as good as Family Night at the beach, but it was a close second.

Uncle Andrew found a piece of vinyl fencing and decided that would be a great sled.  I was a little nervous about it, but it proved to be a really fun game with Andrew and Hannah.  Some of the time, I had to just close my eyes and pray that she didn't get hurt.

We went to see the Draper Temple.  It was a beautiful day when we left our house, but by the time we got to Draper it was cloudy and windy.  Again that Utah weather.  We didn't stay long, but it was a lot of fun!

Hannah looking at the beautiful tulips at Thanksgiving Point.  We went at the start of the tulip festival, but there were very few tulips that had actually bloomed.

Hannah just being a poser.

Happy Easter

I know this is a little late, but better late than never right.  We have had a really fun week the last week with Easter and Spring Break.  The time went by way too fast, and although I love my job, I am looking forward to the summer break.  Here are a few pictures of Easter with Hannah.  It was definately a lot of fun, now that she is a little older and is starting to get it!

You might be a teacher if...

So I have seen this before, but I just got it off my friend Beth's blog.  If you are a teacher, if you know a teacher, or if you have kids and have ever been in the classroom,  you will enjoy this.

1. You might be a teacher if you believe the playground should be equipped with a Ritalin salt lick.
2. You might be a teacher if you want to slap the next person who says, "Must be nice to wrk 8 to 3:30 and have summers off.
3.  You might be a teacher if it is difficult to name your own child because there's no name you can come up with that doesn't bring high blood pressure as it is uttered.
4.  You might be a teacher if you can tell it's a full moon or if its going to rain, snow, hail...anything!!! Without ever looking outside.
5.  You might be a teacher if you believe 'shallow gene pool' should have its own box on a report card.
6.  You might be a teacher if you believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today."
7.  You might be a teacher if when out in public, you feel the urge to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their behavior.
8. You might be a teacherif you have no social life between August and June.
9.  You might be a teacher if you think people should have a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.
10.  You might be a teacher if you wonder how some parents MANAGED to reproduce.
11.  You might be a teacher if you laugh uncontrollable when people refer to the staff roum as the "lounge"
12.  You might be a teacher if you encourage an obnoxious parent to check into charter schools or home schooling and are willing to donate the UHAUL boxes should they decide to move out of the district.
13.  You might be a teacher if you think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.
14.  You might be a teacher if you can't imagine how the ACLU could think of covering your students chair with Velcro and then requiring uniforms made out of the corresponding Velcro could ever be misunderstood by the public.
15.  You might be a teacher if a child's parent instantly answers this question "Why is this kid like this?"
16.  You might be a teacher if you would choose a mammogram over a parent teacher conference.
17.  You might be a teacher if you think someone should invent antibacterial pencils and crayons... and desks and chairs for that matter!
18.  You might be a teacher if the words 'I have a college debt for this?" has ever come out of your mouth.
19.  You might be a teacher if you know how many days, minutes, and seconds are left in the school year!
I am definately looking forward to spring break!

The sick continues...

So it has been close to a week since Hannah got sick.  We went to the doctor on Tuesday, and he said that she just has the flu.  I say just, but I mean she has the worst case of the flu that I have ever seen.  What that means is there is not anything we can do for her except make sure that she stays hydrated.  She also has an ear infection.  We are lucky there is something we can do for that, if only she would stop throwing up long enough to get some medicine in her.

The doctor opted to keep the IV in for another day, just in case we have to take her back to the ER.  That night we thought we were out of the woods, since she started playing and laughing with us.  She was almost back to her adorable self.
Yesterday she took another turn for the worse and decided to throw everything up again.  We didn't know if we should take her back to get more fluids or to take the IV out.  We decided to just watch her for another day and take her today.  Does anybody know how long you can keep an IV in your arm without getting an infection?
The plan is to take her back to the ER tonight and let them decide what to do with her.  The one major problem with this plan is that I have my first grade program tonight and we can't take her until about 7:30.
If anybody has any suggestions or advice for me on how to get through this, please let me know.  I guess I should count my blessings and realize how lucky I am to have a normally healthy baby.

My poor little girl

On Saturday night Hannah got sick all of a sudden.  She was totally fine, playing with her friend Maylee and then on our way home she started throwing up.  I was totally shocked.  Well she just kept getting worse and worse throughout the night and the next day.  On Sunday during conference all she did was lay on my lap and sleep.  She was anything but my full of life little girl that bounces off the walls.  Starting about 7:00 she started throwing up blood and so of course we took her straight to the ER.  It was there that she had her first experience with needles and the dreaded IV.  They pumped her full of fluid and then sent us on our way.  This morning I reluctantly left for work only to have Chad call me around 12:00.  He felt like we needed to take her back to the ER.  We again were on our way.  As soon as we got there, she started screaming "No, not this place"  I felt so bad for her.  It was a totally miserable experience for all of us.  Today they ended up sending us home again, with some anti-nausea medicine and they left the IV in her arm.  This is just a precaution so that if they need to rehydrate her tomorrow, they don't have to stick her again.  She has been so brave throughout everything.  She is so amazing and so strong.

She is going to hate me for putting taking these pictures when she gets older

An update

I know it has been a really long time since I have posted anything. Not only have I been extremely busy, but my computer crashed last week. This is my school computer, which I use all the time. In fact, we have never even set up our home computer since living here, because I just do everything on the laptop. Needless to say, I am really stressed out to see if the school tech is going to be able to recover anything off of my harddrive. Please pray for me that I don't loose EVERYTHING!! By everything, I mean the last two years of lesson plans, newsletters, parent letters, curriculum, and pictures. That is both school pictures and personal pictures AHHHHHH! I can't even think about it anymore. Well,. I will try to post more regularly and update on my disaster status as well as tell you what is new with our family!
